My Favorite Modest Looks From the 75th Golden Globe Awards
While I'm all about modest fashion at modest prices, I still love to admire the glitz and glamour of the red carpet...
Last night, almost every star in attendance at the 75th Golden Globe Awards wore black as a statement against sexual misconduct, harassment, and abuse in Hollywood. Fueled by Time's Up — a unified call for change from women in entertainment for women everywhere — celebrities banded together to protest inequality.
Amidst the sea of onyx on the red carpet, there were a number of modest looks that stole the show. Proving yet again that you can look fabulous and stylish without having to bare it all.
Scroll my modest Best Dressed picks below.
Elisabeth Moss wearing a custom Dior couture dress by designer Maria Grazia Chiuri.
The Handmaid's Tale star took home the award for Best Actress in a Drama TV series - and in this custom Dior couture dress by designer Maria Grazia Chiuri, she won the red carpet as well! The collar detail is girlie and gorgeous, and the three-quarter sleeves plus ankle-length hem help to keep the frock from skewing too matronly. Love it!
Shailene Woodley in Ralph Lauren Collection
The Big Little Lies star wore a two-piece on the carpet and looked super fresh with her platinum blonde hair. In a beaded silk turtleneck and belted tulle skirt, Shailene dazzled. Her barely-there make-up? So on-point.
Salma Hayek in Balenciaga
With its full sleeves, floor-grazing hem, and fitted bodice, Salma was the epitome of chic in her Balenciaga gown. And her side-swept 'do brought an element of casual to her understated look. Topping it all off with a mirrored Tyler Ellis clutch was the perfect accessory.
Kristin Cavallari in Alex Perry
The Hills alum looked stunning in Australian (represent!) designer, Alex Perry. Though the sleeves vibe a tad Morticia Addams, the overall look reads demure and elegant. Finishing with a top knot and chandelier earrings? Simple and gorgeous.
Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton
From the front, the Victorian-style of Alicia's Louis Vuitton dress is To. Die. For. With long sleeves and a high neckline, she looks ever so elegant. It's a pity the dress featured an open back...otherwise, this look would've been pretty perfect.
Ava Duvernay in Armani Privé
The American Film Director best known for her work in Selma looked gorgeous in her Armani Privé gown. A round-neck glittered top amps the glitz while the well-defined waist highlights her curves. And those side slit pockets to store lippy and a cell? Genius.
Isabelle Huppert in Bespoke Chloé by Natacha Ramsay-Levi
J'adore the French actress's fluted neckline and fully embroidered black silk frock by Chloé. Sequins and retro waves are a killer combo, too.
